I have the 1040 too. And compared to Oregon 600 or even Fenix or older outdoor units the contrast is rubbish without direct sun/using backlight (the solar version even worse). Never had an 1030.

Sorry no, I won’t be going back to white/black roads and stay with grey for residential.

I have been using Edge 1030 for years with no problem. 1040 has even better screen. can`t see google using black roads…. prvious colour scheme was perfect. just give us an option to choose.

Because on Garmin edge they have too little contrast. In general newer Garmin devices have very bad contrast without sunlight shining onto them/backlight only or in shadow.
